call it 8mm and be done with it, unless it appears some sort of machining process is used to create that thickness. Another way to consider this is was a standard thickness plate used or some other method to obtain 8mm. Even if a standard plate was used but what you are measuring is something else, always model to the true 8mm thickness IMHO.
I should note however I live in the U.S. so how I practice utilizing metric vs imperial may not be based of the experience of someone living outside of the U.S.

There are many benefits to a patterned versus plain stainless steel sheet. This type of metal is durable, needs less raw material to produce, and reflects light. These benefits make it an excellent choice for interior design. Find out more about the different types of patterned sheets and what to look for when youre purchasing them. Here are some of the most common types. You may be surprised by the many options available.
Decorative Stainless Steel SheetsWhat Is Decorative Stainless Steel Sheet?
Decorative stainless steel sheets are usually more than 1.2mm thick. It is typically used for applications requiring high durability and strength, such as industrial and architectural structures. Its mechanical components are sturdy and durable, and it requires little maintenance during its service life. Its many uses make it the perfect choice for a variety of purposes. Lets look at the most common uses for this material.
Hairline Stainless Steel Sheet. This kind of stainless steel is a high-quality material used in elevator decoration. It is produced through wire drawing equipment and an oil medium. Hairline stainless steel is a much more attractive type than ordinary black stainless steel. Its thickness is about 1.2mm and is suitable for cladding and roofing applications, as well as railings and ceilings. It is incredibly durable and corrosion-resistant.
Types of Decorative Stainless Steel Sheet
If you are looking for a decorative metal sheet for your home or office, there are several different types to choose from. Here are some of the most common types: Embossed Stainless Steel Sheet, Laser Cut Decorative Stainless Steel Sheet, Etched Decorative Stainless Metal Sheet, and Brushed and what they all have in common. Listed below are some of the most common uses for each type.
Embossed Stainless Steel Sheet
Embossed stainless steel sheet has many advantages, such as high strength and durability, and a distinctive look. It is commonly used in architectural decoration, elevator cladding, and industrial applications. Its diverse patterns, colors, and textures are a result of a stamping process. Embossed stainless steel sheets can be cleaned easily, and are rust and corrosion-resistant. However, it is not recommended for food-handling applications, because of its potential for breakage.

Embossed stainless steel sheets are a decorative option that presents original metallic colors and dimensional patterns. It can be used in a variety of applications, including residential and commercial buildings. It can be used for artwork, furniture, and more. Its decorative effects are striking, and its quality is second to none. Embossed stainless steel sheets are also easy to clean and maintain. They are scratch and corrosion-resistant, and fingerprints do not stick to them.
Laser Cut Stainless Steel Sheet
There are a number of advantages of laser-cut stainless steel sheet. These steel sheets are flexible, highly efficient, and have superior cut quality. Unlike other steel types, stainless steel can be laser-cut to a high degree of detail, making it the perfect choice for industries that require precision and aesthetics. To learn more about the benefits of laser-cut stainless steel sheets, read on! Listed below are a few of the most common applications.
Precision When a stainless steel sheet is laser-cut, the beam from the laser is focused on the workpiece in a precise manner to produce a thin, smooth surface with minimal material loss. Precision The laser beams focus and narrow cutting seam guarantee maximum accuracy and quality. A stainless steel sheet is commonly laser-cut in this method because the materials low thermal conductivity produces a thin, sharp kerf. The lack of exothermic oxidation reaction limits the laser cutting capacity of thinner sheet materials. In addition, higher nitrogen pressure is needed to expel molten metal from the lower kerf of stainless steel sheets.
Etched Stainless Steel Sheet
If you are interested in etched stainless steel sheet, you should know the basics of the process. You will need a piece of steel that can be easily etched. This process is called etching. This process involves applying an acid to the steel and covering the edges. The acid will have different effects depending on its strength. To obtain the chemicals, you can visit a chemical supply store or an electronics supply store. You can also purchase them online.
The etching process is a well-known and ancient industrial process that uses common mordant acids and chemical compounds to improve the surface of stainless steel. The name comes from the French word mordant, which means biting. The acid etching process aims to reduce the surface of the metal without distorting it or warping it. In addition to this, the process results in smooth and burr-free edges.
Brushed Stainless Steel Sheet
Brushed stainless steel is a great choice for areas requiring a matte finish. Its texture has a stripe-like appearance and is more durable than traditional 2B stainless steel sheets. Stainless Supply uses high-grade materials that are brushed non-directionally for superior finishing and performance. Designed for modern industrial buildings, brushed stainless steel is ideal for various purposes. Stainless Supply offers a wide range of products, including brushed sheets and sheeting.
There are several types of brushed 316 stainless steel sheets. The most common is the 4 Brushed finish which provides a brushed appearance and masks fingerprints. Both finishes are highly durable and rust-resistant. Brushed stainless steel sheets come in several different thicknesses and are suitable for both commercial and residential applications. Brushed stainless steel sheets are commonly used in kitchens and other areas where food is prepared.
Mirror Finish Stainless Steel Sheet
The use of mirror finish stainless steel sheet can achieve a variety of aesthetic effects, including a natural metallic texture. This type of stainless steel is more durable and heat resistant than standard, non-mirrored stainless steel sheets. The thin stainless sheet is also lightweight and highly flexible, making it ideal for many different types of applications. Mirror-polished stainless steel is especially suitable for applications in mechanical engineering, kitchenware, medical equipment, and showcases. Mirror-finish stainless steel sheets are also available in various grades and can be used for both interior and exterior applications.
This type of stainless steel sheet is available in a variety of sizes, including custom sizes and thicknesses. These sheets are rustproof and can be cut into any desired shape. The reflective surface is equivalent to a glass mirror, and custom sizes are available on request. You can also find Mirror Finish Stainless Steel sheets in the market at a very competitive price. Properties of Decorative Stainless Steel Sheet
Decorative stainless steel sheet is a popular decorative material that is widely used in buildings. It is widely used for curtain walls, hall walls, elevators, signboard advertisements, and front screens. The color-coated sheet has long-lasting colors and is suitable for a variety of decorative applications. It has superior wear resistance and corrosion resistance compared to primary-color stainless steel. Color-coated sheets are also available in different shades.
Decorative stainless steel sheets are also known as hairline sheets. This type of stainless steel sheet is a high-quality material used in elevator decoration. It is produced using wire drawing equipment and an oil medium. The abrasive belts are usually 120300 mesh and have large spaces for adjustable lines. Its beautiful appearance makes it more attractive than ordinary black stainless steel. A stainless steel sheet is generally 1.2mm thick, so it is perfect for applications such as roofing, railing, ceiling, and cladding.
Application for Decorative Stainless Steel Sheet
The present invention relates to the manufacture of colored stainless steel rolled sheets having an embossed pattern. This steel sheet is made from 0.251.2mm thick stainless steel, which is subjected to surface treatments such as PVD ionic coating and nano-ceramic coating. A release sheet is then bonded to a thin stainless steel sheet with a hot melted adhesive layer, and a non-woven fabric layer may be further bonded between the stainless steel sheet and the release paper.
Various types of decorative stainless steel sheets are available in different thicknesses and surface finishes. These types of sheets are suitable for diverse applications in different sectors, including elevators, hall walls, signage, and ceilings.
