When it comes to protecting the corners inside your building&#;s corridors and doorways from constant bumping and bashing, all it takes is 5 easy steps to install Inpro&#;s high-impact BluNose® and tape-on Corner Guards:

Clean the surface: The wall surface that the corner guards are to be applied must be dry and free of dirt, dust, oil, loose paint, wax and grease.
Position the BluNose vinyl retainer against the corner of your wall, stagger and drill the required number of holes based on height with a ¼&#; (6mm) drill bit and position alligator anchors into holes. (4 per 3&#;, 6 per 4&#;, 10 per 8&#;)
Mount the retainer.
Overlap the top and bottom caps with the retainer and attach.
Position the cover on the retainer and adjust the top cap for a tight fit. Starting at the top, push cover onto retainer pressing over the entire length until it snaps into place.
The retainer in a BluNose Corner Guard is unlike any other &#; the patented design is 4X stronger than aluminum, and 6X stronger than other vinyl retainers. How do we know? Because we tested our BluNose Corner Guards per ASTM F 476-84, paragraph 18. See 1.04 System Description, item #4 in the specification

Clean the surface of the wall by removing dust, dirt, oil, loose paint or any debris.
Peel the paper release backing from the corner guard.
Starting at the bottom, position the corner guard on the wall. Apply firm pressure to the entire surface of the corner guard to ensure a firm bond. Use an extension roller to ensure firm application
If your corner guard does not have tape or you&#;re applying it to textured or difficult surfaces, such as glazed block or wallpaper use Heavy-Duty Adhesive to ensure application.
Apply a bead of adhesive in a zig-zag pattern over the back of the corner guard.
Immediately position corner guard on the wall and apply pressure until a tight fit is achieved.
Use an extension roller will aid this step.

Finish the Corner Guard with paint or stain. (Test stain on the inside.)
If you have the old-style base moulding which comes 8 to 12 inches up the wall, mount the bottom of the Corner Guard on top of the base moulding. With newer base moulding, you may wish to leave a 4 to 5 inch gap between the base and the bottom of your Corner Guard.
Mount your Corner Guards with eightpenny finishing nails. (Predrill pilot holes, as described below). These may seem large, but they must extend through the wall system to the stud. Although glue may be easier and faster, it will dry out in time, and likely, the Corner Guards will pop off the corner with a sharp bump. Nails also allow for cleaner removal when the next repainting or papering is to be done.
Use three (3) nails per Corner Guard. Locate one at the center and the other two at each end in the deep ring where the fancy turning begins. If the walls are plaster, center your nails. If you are working over the metal corner of a wallboard system, offset the nails approximately 1/2", all to the same side.
Hold the Corner Guard in place and drill three pilot holes with a drill bit slightly smaller than the nails. Drill completely through the Corner Bead. This will minimize the chances of splitting.
Nail in place. Set nails with a nail set, and fill the holes with wood putty or elastic wood. Touch up nail holes with paint or stain. ENJOY!

Self Stick corner guards feature a release paper which can easily be removed, relieving the sticky adhesive. Available in 4-foot and 8-foot options.
Nail on Corner Guards: Looking for something a bit more permanent? Although designed with the same hard plastic material, Trimaco&#;s Nail on Corner Guards come with specially designed screw/nails, which can be easily drilled into the plastic protector. Nail-on corner guards are ideal for commercial projects. Also available in 4-foot and 8-foot options.

Clean your surface: First and foremost, if you are applying a corner guard that features an adhesive backing, clean your surface. The adhesive will not stick properly if dust or dirt is present.
How high should you install your corner guard? Depending on your job type will ultimately determine how high or low you want to install your corner guard. If you plan on moving low standing furniture or equipment, lower is better to reduce the risk of damages. If high traffic is a risk, ensuring the corner guard is installed at shoulder height should be considered.
Install:
Self-Stick Corner Guards: Trimaco&#;s Self-Stick Corner Guards and Flexible Corner Guards are quick and easy to install. After cleaning your surface, remove the release paper from the plastic. Slowly adhere the wall corner guard to your desired height and press firmly into place.
Nail-on Corner Guards: Nail-On Corner Guards should be installed with a hammer. To install, hold the corner guard in place, and nail in the screw/nails to secure. We recommend spacing out the nails roughly one foot from each other, alternating between the sides of the corner guard.
Although Trimaco offers the hard plastic corner guards in 4-foot and 8-foot options, sometimes a more specific height may be needed. To cut the hard plastic, we recommend using a sharp knife or saw. Flexible, plastic corner guards can simply be cut with a pair of scissors.
