Today's task is to organize and declutter plastic and disposable cutlery, as well as other take-out supplies. These could be anything from forks, spoons, knives, napkins, condiment packets, and more. We often accumulate these items because they come free with our meals, we don't want to waste them, or we think we might need them later. But eventually, they start to pile up, occupying valuable space.

When tackling this decluttering mission, remember to check your car for any similar items as well. While we will have a full car interior decluttering mission later, getting these items out of your car sooner is beneficial. One reader, Karin, found a surprising amount in her car last September: "When I cleaned out our cars last September, look at what I found...LOL."

Kate decluttered a bunch of spoons, noting, "I think we can stop saving our 16 Handles yogurt spoons." Another reader, Rita, recycled a pile of condiment packets, saying, "I used to take them to a place I worked, but haven't worked there in 2-3 years! So here's my stash I tossed today! Love these mini challenges! So quick and EASY to do!"
Amanda found all kinds of take-out containers, exclaiming, "45 pieces GONE!" The sheer volume of these items can quickly become overwhelming, but focusing on one area or item type at a time can make a big difference.

If you find yourself accumulating way too many of these supplies, such as condiment packets that could last three years or more, it's time to set some rules to prevent this from happening again.
If it feels inconvenient to tell someone not to include these items in your take-out package, remember the effort you are putting in now to declutter them. Break the mentality that you need to take something just because it’s free. Only take what you will use during that meal to minimize waste.
Choose a container for these take-out supplies, and once it's full, stop accumulating them. Resist the urge to add another container or shove more items into the current one.
If you're keeping these items, ensure you actually use them. Consider utilizing them for:
If you have excessive condiment packets, make a point to use them. While they might not have expiration dates, they won't last forever. If some have been sitting for 15 years, it might be best to toss them and start fresh.
Once you declutter one type of item, you'll likely want to declutter more. The Declutter 365 system is designed to help you declutter your entire house over the course of a year with just 15 minutes of decluttering each day.
Hundreds of thousands of people use this proven system to get rid of clutter and bring peace and calm back to their homes. Declutter 365 focuses on small areas at a time, providing consistent progress without creating a bigger mess.
In addition to building a daily decluttering habit, the program teaches the skills, habits, routines, and mindsets necessary to maintain a clutter-free and organized home forever.
If you haven’t already, get your copy of this year's Declutter 365 annual calendar (it's FREE!). Find today’s date and spend 15 minutes decluttering. Repeat daily. Over a year, you'll declutter your whole house!
