Inflatable mattresses, though economical, portable, and easy to store, can have issues such as deflating, sagging, or squeaking when someone moves. I often use them with an additional pad, especially when I have extra space while traveling or camping.
They're not ideal for everyone, but some people do prefer hammocks as an alternative.

In the past, I used to rake together pine needles and set up my tent on top of them to smooth out the ground. As I grew older, sleeping on the ground became less comfortable, so I switched to an air mattress. However, air mattresses tend to deflate during the night. To make getting up easier, I eventually transitioned to a high-rise air mattress.
Last year, I decided to try a $30 camp cot from Walmart, expecting it to be uncomfortable, especially given its low price. Surprisingly, it worked quite well. I added a foam pad and used my 3-piece GI sleep system for extra padding, which also helped reduce the cold air beneath me. Storing items under the cot kept the tent more spacious, and getting out of bed became much easier on my knees. Overall, it made my camping experience much more enjoyable.
However, camp cots are narrow, making it difficult to share with a child. You might need a second cot for your daughter, or she could sleep on a foam pad on the ground, which children often find comfortable. I didn't start feeling the discomfort of the ground until my 40s and always associated camping with sleeping directly on the ground... LOL!
