Todays business world is competitive, so companies constantly look for ways to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. As a business owner, have you ever considered how electric scooters could contribute to achieving these goals? Well, if you havent, you can learn five ways electric scooters can enhance business efficiency and reduce costs here.

Electric scooters have gained popularity as a sustainable and cost-effective means of transportation. Not only are they environmentally friendly, but they can also offer many benefits for businesses. Electric scooters can benefit your business by improving employee productivity and reducing transportation expenses.

Gas prices are ridiculously high and they just keep climbing. Your car isnt getting any cheaper, but buying a new electric car also isnt in your budget (and lets face it, putting one more car on the roads isnt helping anyone either). An electric bike would be a GREAT alternative, but maybe you just arent ready to go 20 mph on the side of the road with cars whizzing past your handlebars.

But theres another great solution that you might have overlooked: the humble electric scooter. Im talking seated electric scooters, like the Vespa kind not the Razor kind. And heres why you ought to give them another look.

This might sound like a crazy idea, giving up a car in favor of an electric scooter.

But I assure, its not crazy at all. In fact, its how my wife and I live. And how billions of others live across the world. Its only in America where a scooter is seen as an oddity. Pretty much everywhere else, theyre simply a given.

Ive written before about how my daily driver is a fun little 125cc-equivalent electric scooter. And the fact that I live in a city helps, but its 50 mph (80 km/h) top speed would work just as well in the suburbs.

If you want to learn more, please visit our website electric moped road legal.

You can check out that scooter (known as the NIU NQi Extended Range) in my video below. However, there are so many great options out there now that Im not going to tell you which one you should choose. Instead, lets see why any of them could be the perfect car replacer for you.

Ryan Kluftinger from FortNine, a popular motorcycling channel on YouTube, recently addressed the question of why car drivers should switch to a scooter.

Its an easy argument to make from several different angles.

When it comes to moving a 200 lb. person around, a 4,000 lb. box on wheels is simply ridiculous. We dont serve a scoop of ice cream in a traffic cone, do we?

Instead, a person-sized vehicle simply makes so much more sense from an efficiency standpoint. Its cheaper to buy. It takes up less space. It uses less energy. Its cheaper to operate. It gets where its going faster and offers more fun while doing it. The list goes on and on.

The problem is that there are still many misconceptions swirling around out there regarding scooters, though Kluftingers video attempted to tackle several of them. And while he seems to dangle the idea of gas-powered scooters as the ultimate solution for car drivers, its actually electric scooters that offer so many more advantages. Heres why.

Can scooters haul my stuff?

Youre never going to carry as much cargo on a scooter as you can in the back of your F150. Thats just physics.

But dont think that you cant carry things on a scooter. Kluftinger has a bit of fun demonstrating that his 50cc Vespa can store 15 Starbucks cups under the seat, seven McChicken sandwiches in the glovebox, and Timmys practice ball on the bag hook.

While that might not be how most of the industry measures storage space, hes got a point. You can fit a decent amount of daily requirements in various storage spaces designed into scooters. And hes even demonstrating it on a Vespa, which had to design its storage around an old gas-powered engine. Electric scooters often move the motor to the wheel and get to place the batteries anywhere they want often under the floorboard meaning theres usually even more storage.

Adding a rear cargo box creates extra lockable storage, plus you have all that space around your feet. That might sound strange to non-scooter riders, but the rest of us know just how valuable that space is and are used to carrying things between our feet. As much as I love riding electric motorcycles, I usually stick to my electric scooters in the city simply for the extra storage space between my feet. On the day I picked up my NIU from the dealer, I carried home the large box full of the charger and accessories between my feet. Just a few days ago I used the space to carry a folding solar panel to a friends house. I regularly see people carrying a bag of dog food or other large items there. Its an awesome feature of scooters and one that youll be surprised how often you use.

Im constantly carrying things like this on my scooter, though adding the rear cargo box sure helped!

Arent scooters for girls?

Im constantly carrying things like this on my scooter, though adding the rear cargo box sure helped!

Most people who think this tend to have a dated image in their mind of Audrey Hepburn on the back of a 50s Vespa. Well, weve come a long way folks. Believe it or not, anyone can ride a scooter, and everyone does.

But Kluftinger perhaps puts it best when posed with the question, popping a squat on three different scooters and succinctly answering that none of these inanimate objects care what his genitalia looks like.

That Gogoro looks pretty slick!

Will scooters ruin my pants?

That Gogoro looks pretty slick!

As little as we want to admit it, reality isnt always blue skies and sunny days. It occasionally rains, and thats a bummer for scooter riders.

Theres a saying among cycling commuters that there is no bad weather, only bad clothes. Essentially, riding can be done rain or shine as long as you dress appropriately.

While thats largely true, it doesnt hide the fact that swapping on rain pants and an extra jacket is an annoying extra step, whether that be for cyclists, scooter riders, or anyone else on two wheels. If its a light drizzle though and you have a scooter with a decently sized front shield (so not a Honda Ruckus), you likely wont get very wet at all on the bottom half thanks to the scooter naturally redirecting the wet airstream around itself and its rider. Coming to a stop will still leave you getting rained on, but many winter riders already install a skirt on their scooter to keep road spray off, which also helps with rain.

Ultimately, weather is an annoyance that is faced by all two-wheelers, but that can largely be mitigated with a bit of prior planning. And even if an electric scooter is your second vehicle and you rely on a car for the days with bad weather, thats still a lot better than driving a car 100% of the time.

Are electric scooters fast?

They sure can be! Dont be fooled by some of the slower 20 mph e-scooters that masquerade under electric bike laws.

There are plenty of fast electric scooters out there, and many are quite affordable. The CSC Wiz will carry you over 40 mph (64 km/h).

If you want to learn more, please visit our website w electric motorcycle.

My NIU NQi Extended Range gets darn close to 50 mph (80 km/h), though admittedly the top speed is a tad bit less with two riders and a half-discharged battery. NIUs latest MQi EVO electric scooter pushes even faster up to over 60 mph (100 km/h).

And these are all small, lightweight electric scooters that are often considered to be 125cc-equivalent scooters.

Even higher-speed and higher-power models like the new BMW CE 04 push the envelope even higher to reach 75 mph (120 km/h), offering minimum highway-level performance for commuters that need to access a mix of slower and faster roads on their way to work.

Doing 75 mph on the BMW CE 04 is all I need to know about whether or not e-scooters can be fast.

Arent electric scooters expensive?

Doing 75 mph on the BMW CE 04 is all I need to know about whether or not e-scooters can be fast.

Sometimes, but not always. Many electric scooters are still fairly new. And new rarely means low-cost.

There are low-power and low-speed electric scooters that can be had for under $2K, but most are going to start closer to $3K.

My scooter was priced closer to $4K in the US when I got it, though I wasnt in the US and I paid a higher price thanks to import taxes.

Obviously a cheaper gas scooter is going to save some cash over an electric scooter, at least initially. But just like with cars, the gas cost will add up. Gas scooters may be more efficient than gas cars, but the gas still costs the same price, even if youre using less of it.

Electric scooters, on the other hand, have almost zero operational costs. I use around US $1 in electricity per month to charge and ride my electric scooter. Let me repeat that. My 50 mph electric scooter that takes me and my wife all over the city and is the reason we dont need a car it costs me just $1 per month in fuel. And then there are the maintenance savings. Unlike gas scooters, which are in constant need of engine maintenance, electric scooters are almost maintenance free. I havent had to repair or replace a single thing on my electric scooter in two years. Ill probably replace my tires in a year or so just due to age, but even my brake pads are still in good shape (partially due to using regenerative braking from the electric motor instead of brake pads much of the time).

So yes, electric scooters will cost a bit more than gas scooters at first. But the fuel savings and the maintenance savings alone will quickly add up and outpace a gas scooter.

In fact, electric scooters are so economical that many people wont even need to trade their car in order to buy one since an electric scooter is a fraction of the price of a car. As I mentioned before, it can make a great second vehicle, and theres a decent chance it will even become your first vehicle.

Or as Kluftinger put it while kicking a car door closed, To get a scooter you wont even have the sell the old box. Just whenever you can, think outside of it.

Braaap MotoE: Budget Electric Motorcycles Coming to US ...

Australia&#;s Braaap Motorcycles might have a fix right here in the U.S. for anyone feeling priced out of the electric-motorcycle market.

Owning an electric motorcycle is a great way to get around town with a much lower environmental footprint. But for many, it&#;s cost-prohibitive to buy an EV outright. Until now. The Braaap MotoE starts at $5,148.

Australian motorcycle company, Braaap &#; pronounced the way some motorcycles sound when revved &#; has been designing and developing world-class bikes in Australia since . Its inventory includes cost-effective, low-displacement dirt bikes, sport bikes, cruisers, and café racers.

Braaap has over 10,000 bikes on the road already. Now, the independent manufacturer is coming to the U.S. It recently received stock of its electric motorcycle range at its Michigan warehouse.

Braaap MotoE: Keeping Prices Low

Whatever your reason for considering an electric motorcycle, Braaap believes its MotoE range will provide better value than other internal combustion equivalents.

Brad Smith, the Braaap Motorcycles founder and director, explains: &#;Most people are priced out of the electric bike option at the moment. That&#;s really what we want to change.&#;

Braaap&#;s sales focus is e-commerce and selling directly to the consumer as much as possible. In its early days in Australia, Braaap owned five dealerships and sold through an additional 50 dealerships.

&#;That&#;s a lot of layers,&#; says Smith. &#;By removing layers, such as franchise agreements, distribution agreements, and wholesale agreements, we can build a better value bike.&#;

Affordable, but Not Cheap & Nasty

Design work and R&D are completed in Australia in partnership with Chinese manufacturing facilities. &#;When we are creating a new model, we often try to lean on something the [Chinese] factory has a base for, and then make changes to make it our own,&#; Smith said. &#;We&#;re not trying to be Tesla. We&#;re not trying to win Moto GP. We are trying to make the best value bike.&#;

Smith went on to say, &#;You are going to get a bike that can do more than the speed limit, and it&#;s backed by a lifetime warranty.&#;

Braaap MotoE Lifetime Warranty

What&#;s that, you say? A lifetime warranty? &#;We&#;ve been offering a lifetime warranty on Braaap bikes for over 10 years now. It&#;s not too good to be true. It&#;s a real win-win,&#; said Smith.

He explained that it&#;s an opt-in warranty lasting for the lifetime of your service regime. In other words, you need to keep your bike serviced. &#;We even allow you to service it yourself now,&#; said Smith. However, you need to join Braaap&#;s Self-Service Program.

The lifetime warranty is available for an affordable one-off fee of $250, but it doesn&#;t transfer to the second owner. The Self-Service Program requires a regular membership fee as well.

What About Servicing?

Braaap&#;s MotoE range can be serviced at any qualified motorcycle servicing center. The interval between services is every 2,500 miles. With that being said, servicing an electric bike is vastly different from that of a bike with a traditional motor.

Oil changes, oil filters, air filters, spark plugs, coolant, and chain adjustments are not required on an electric bike. This should reduce the servicing cost considerably.

&#;All the things that take up your traditional service time are not there,&#; Smith said.

You will, however, need to have the following checked:

  • Throttle operation
  • Lights
  • Brake pads
  • Cables and hoses
  • Brake light switch
  • Headlight aim
  • Suspension
  • Nuts, bolts, fasteners
  • Wheels and tires
  • Steering head bearings
  • Battery health (via a battery management system Bluetooth app)

Braaap MotoE: Features & Tech

For an electric motorcycle at this price point, you could easily imagine there are little to no features included. But that&#;s not the case with Braaap&#;s MotoE range. Some of the surprising features include:

  • Reverse gear
  • Keyless ride
  • Ability to start the bike with its key fob
  • Bluetooth speaker
  • Alarm
  • Riding modes

Riding modes come in the form of a 1/2/3 power selection switch that allows the rider to choose the power output of the bike. The lowest setting, 1, will conserve the charge of the bike, and therefore increase the bike&#;s range. This selection will also limit the top speed.

The opposite is true when selecting mode 3. With this power option, the MotoE will accelerate faster and the top speed becomes higher.

Doing wheel spins and wheel stands from a standing start could also quickly deplete the battery. So, Braaap has included a soft launch feature that will get you ahead of traffic at the lights without draining your battery as fast.

Range, Charging, and More Details

Let&#;s face it, Braaap MotoE customers aren&#;t those people who want to ride across the country. The people riding to work and going for coffee on the weekend will get the most out of these bikes. The range is going to depend on how you ride the bike, but if your out-and-back distance is within 60 miles, you&#;ll be fine.

Charging either of the three MotoE bikes will take 4 to 6 hours via a standard wall socket with the charger supplied with the bikes. One potential drawback is that while a fast charger set is available as an optional extra for $900, using it is not currently covered under warranty, should something go wrong.

Further testing on the adapter still needs to be completed. So, in the meantime, recharging is restricted to a standard wall socket, if you don&#;t want to risk the warranty. Smith states that the fast-charge adapter &#;will be available as a normal warranty-backed product for U.S. $350 by springtime in the U.S.&#;

Braaap&#;s Current MotoE Lineup

The main difference between each of the three MotoE motorcycles is the size of its battery. There is actually very little difference between the 8,000W MotoEv8 and the 10,000W MotoEv10 versions, though you may be able to squeeze out some extra miles with the larger battery.

The 5,000W MotoEv5 features a CBS braking system, as opposed to ABS in the larger battery models. The MotoEv5 also does not share the same inverted forks as the MotoEv8 and the MotoEv10 models.

Each bike features twin-piston caliper brakes, with dual disks on the front and a single-piston single disk on the rear. The tires are base-model and have no branding, but they do meet DOT requirements and are good all-around tires. Performance and high-end branded tires will also fit the 17-inch rims.

Getting Your Hands on a Braaap MotoE

If you want to get your hands on one of these bikes, you won&#;t have to wait too long. Braaap will be listing its dealer network on its U.S. website by the end of the year, and the bikes will be available to purchase via those dealerships. You will also be able to order a bike directly from the Braaap site.

&#;Bikes will be assembled in Michigan and on the road [by] spring,&#; Smith said.

Eventually, Braaap plans to have bikes in dealerships across the United States, but the company is cautious not to expand too fast. Braaap has a long-term vision and wants to ensure that it continues to provide affordable, quality bikes while creating happy customers.

&#;We&#;re not trying to put 15 dealers in each city. We are trying to have core partners and minimal touchpoints,&#; Smith said.

As with Braaap&#;s Australian sales method, U.S. sales will be as direct to the consumer as possible. No distributors or franchisees will be used.

Current U.S. prices for the three MotoE motorcycles are:

  • MotoEv5 (5,000W ) &#; $5,148
  • Moto Ev8 (8,000W) &#; $7,148
  • MotoEv10 (10,000W) &#; $9,148

Visit the Braaap website for more information on availability.
