Wheat/Maize Flour Milling
After the cleaning and conditioning process is over, grinding can begin, which can take many forms:
Hammer-milled flour is the lowest cost option and best suited for rural applications. Hammering involves grinding corn and hammering it through holes to obtain an undefined category closely related to sifted cornmeal. Cornmeal is considered inferior to trade cornmeal because all of the germ, endosperm, and bran are hammered and ground in the process. Because the germ goes rancid quickly after grinding, has a short shelf life, and contains a large amount of powder, which causes moisture adsorption, and the moisture is quickly released when cold, making the porridge sour. Porridge may also turn yellow and may cause stomach bloating. (You may also be interested in: Mini Wheat Flour Mill)
Corn can also be polished or debudded with a 1.6mm hippo hammer before milling to provide a high quality, specially screened meal. In order to obtain satisfactory corn meal, it is important to degerminate the corn at a rate of 3, 2, 0.5 tons per hour. A degerminating or polishing machine effectively separates the germ, bran and endosperm. This can be achieved by using a hammer mill, drum mill or electroplating mill.
